TO BUILD GENERATIONAL WEALTH, STARTING A BUSINESS IS JUST THE BEGINNING Billion Dollar Brand is a 9-week cohort built to position founders to turn their business into a real, transferable asset—not just a job.
Iconic brands like Amazon, Apple, and Nike began as simple ideas backed by founders who recognized their potential—even if they couldn’t yet see the scale those ideas would reach. And their success stories are not the end of the narrative; they set the blueprint for what’s possible. WHAT IS A BILLION DOLLAR BRAND?

A lot of money (being rich) is defined by high income and high spending on luxuries, whereas wealth represents long-term financial security, freedom, and assets that grow over time. Black entrepreneurship is rising, but too many Black-owned businesses aren’t reaching the scale and structure needed to build lasting wealth. Pew shows Black-owned firms grew in number and revenue, yet still make up a small share of U.S. firms and overall revenue, with many remaining small and limited in hiring power. Gallup adds that succession planning is often missing—especially for nonemployer businesses—because they’re “too small,” too owner-dependent, or owners are too busy—so they’re less likely to be transferable or sell-ready. WHY THIS PROGRAM IS NEEDED
SCALABILITY MODELS We’ll breaks down proven scalability models—verticals, servicing, licensing, wholesale, franchising, and digital—so founders understand the tradeoffs in margins, capacity, and complexity. Participants identify the best-fit model for their enterprise and leave with a clear scaling strategy tied to their resources, goals, and long-term exit plan. SUCCESSION/EXIT STRATEGIES Founders plan for ownership beyond themselves by mapping clear succession pathways. We also break down exit options like acquisition, licensing, and sell-ready preparation so the business can generate retirement-level wealth when it’s time to transition. BRAND VS BUSINESS Founders will understand how structures protect the business, reduce risk, and support long-term sustainability. We cover how entity type, ownership, agreements, and compliance affect taxes, succession planning, and exit options—so the business can be transferred, inherited, or sold with confidence. LEGAL STRUCTURES FOR SUSTAINABILITY We’ll clarify the difference between a business (what you sell) and a brand (what you’re known for), so founders stop competing on price and start competing on trust. Participants leave with a clear brand foundation and an action plan to align positioning, voice, visuals, and customer experience. CAPITAL TIMING & READINESS Founders learn how to evaluate capital options—grants, loans, lines of credit, and investors—and match the right type of funding to their growth strategy. Participants learn a simple readiness checklist (financials, credit, projections, and use-of-funds plan) to determine when to pursue capital, how much to seek, and how to use it to scale without losing control. COMMUNITY IMPACT We’ll equip founders with a growth mindset rooted in responsibility—scaling with intention, hiring locally, and building a culture that creates real opportunity. Participants learn how to lead as community catalysts, using their business as a model of what’s possible and a pathway for others to follow. THE PROGRAM Participants will strengthen the fundamentals that drive long-term value (clear brand positioning, scalable operations, clean financials, and smart legal structure) so the company can outlive the founder. By the end of the program, founders leave with a practical roadmap to grow with intention and build toward two legacy outcomes: passing the business down with confidence or preparing it to be sold as a wealth and retirement vehicle. MENTORSHIP As part of the program, mentors will expand on each week’s lessons and guide participants in applying the concepts directly to their own businesses. This creates a highly customized experience with immediate, practical implementation, and mentors will continue supporting participants after graduation to help sustain progress and momentum. PITCHING YOUR BUSINESS Learning to pitch is critical because it forces founders to clearly explain what they do, who they serve, and why they win—so customers, partners, and funders can quickly understand the value. A strong pitch also unlocks growth opportunities by helping founders confidently ask for capital, secure strategic relationships, and position the business as a credible, investable asset. "It's not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you, and how many generations you keep it for." — Robert Kiyosaki
We will help founders evolve from solopreneurs into employer businesses by building the systems, strategy, and readiness needed to hire effectively, delegate with confidence, and scale sustainably— while preparing them to access capital and use it strategically to maximize its value. What We Will Accomplish CHANGING THE LANDSCAPE OF ARIZONA Increase the number of sustainable Black-owned businesses in Arizona to better reflect the state’s demographics (from under 1% to 5%) by equipping founders with a strong foundation for long-term vision and strategy—so more businesses remain open through intentional planning and execution. Close the racial wealth gap by increasing the number of successful businesses built to endure —enterprises that can be transferred across generations with confidence or positioned as investable assets through a well-planned, strategic sale. I said, 'Who said African American founders can't build a billion dollar company?' -Troy Carter
